About the Programme:
PGDM is two years full time Residential Autonomous Programme, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India, New Delhi.
XIM Bhubaneswar through its interprated arrangement for quality enhancement has actually involved in PGDM programme design of KBS.
Programme Design:
The Curricula for this two-year Programme have been designed to impart specialized skills so as to enable the students to understand, appreciate and manage the socio-economic, political, legal and technological environment of various business settings. Enable them to acquire state-of-the-art skills in the functional areas of management, fosters them to develop an attitude to manage change and increase their effectiveness and grow as competent and responsible corporate citizens.
The First Year
-
During the first year of the programme, students learn basic concepts in the areas of General Management, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Systems, Production & Operation Management, Economics etc. to name a few.
- The first year academic work spreads over three terms, (Term-I, II & III) of three months each, is a package of 24 core courses designed to provide a holistic view on management and to apprise the students of the dynamics of the corporate world.
- On-the-Job-Training (OJT)
At the end of the Term-III, all the students of the PGDM programme are required to undertake a project assignment in an organization for a period of three months (usually April-June).
The Second year
- The second year curriculum consists of two core courses along with elective courses in different areas of interest. In all, a student has to study 40 courses (26 core and 14 electives)
- Students are required to opt for 14 electives apart from the two core courses offered during this year to select at least one area of interest from the following functional areas:
- Human Resource Management
- Marketing Management
- Finance Management
- Information Technology Management
- Production & Operations Management
Duration of sessions
- The classes are conducted in all working days except Sundays and institute approved holidays, Normally the single credit papers consist of 5 session of 7:30 hrs.
Course design
The courses offered during the two year program are classified into credits. The courses are of 4 credit papers based on the amount of classroom interaction and student workload in the class room activity.

Expectation from Students
KBS follows a system of continuous evaluation. The evaluation of a particular paper may consist of the following:
- Quiz's
- Assignment's
- Group/ Individual Project's)/Term Papers
- Class participations
- Mid Term Examination
- End Term Examination
Examination (s)
For the two credit courses there is one term examination, which may be at mid term or at end term depending upon the period at which it was offered.
For (all the ) four credit courses there are two term examinations i.e. mid term and end term. These examinations are compulsory. The date and time of the examinations will be notified by the PGP office. There will be no examination breaks.
The Institute aims at creating an academic atmosphere and providing the facilities that a student needs to become a successful manager and an able citizen. The rules and regulations, the guidelines and implementations thereof are directed towards this end. As residential students, they have to make good use of these rules and help one another in using these for achieving the objectives of their stay.
